Experiencing Wildlife in Yellowstone (May 27 to Sep 4)
Whether you're hiking a backcountry trail, camping, or just enjoying the park's amazing wildlife from the road, this workshop is for you and your family. In this interactive demonstration, park rangers will help you learn where to look for animals and how to safely enjoy your wildlife watching experience. Meet outside on the geyser side of the Old Faithful Visitor Education Center. 20 minutes. Accessible.

Geyser Discovery Stroll (June 11 to September 4)
On this short walk, learn about one of the rarest geological features on earth. The Upper Geyser Basin is home to the densest concentration of geysers in the world. Meet at Castle Geyser, .5 mile west of Old Faithful (15 minute walk from the Visitor Education Center). 1.5 hours.

Geyser Hill is at the heart of the world’s greatest concentration of geysers. Explore this special corner of the park and learn about the relationship between Yellowstone’s volcanic history and hydrothermal features on this 1.25-mile walk. Meet outside on the geyser side of the Old Faithful Visitor Education Center. Moderately strenuous. 1.5 hours.

Ranger Campfire Programs - Yellowstone National ParkLearn more about Yellowstone’s natural and cultural history in this presentation highlighting one of Yellowstone’s wonders. Inquire locally on bulletin boards and at the Old Faithful Visitor Education Center for program descriptions. Meet in the theater of the Old Faithful Visitor Education Center. 45 minutes.

Old Faithful Junior Ranger (Jun 11 to Aug 20)
Learn about Yellowstone’s wonderful wildlife, geysers, history and much more. This is a great opportunity to complete the ranger-led activity required to earn your Junior Ranger patch. These family programs are geared towards kids 5–12 years old. While it is not required, you can purchase a Junior Ranger booklet at the Old Faithful Visitor Education Center Meet near the Old Faithful yurts, east of the Visitor Education Center. 30 minutes. Accessible.

Discover a lesser–known gem through one of Yellowstone's most striking hydrothermal areas. Learn about volcanic geology on this .5 mile walk. Meet at Black Sand Basin parking lot, one mile north of Old Faithful. 1 hour.

Mystic Falls Walk (June 11 to September 3)
Explore a special part of the Yellowstone Ecosystem while enjoying this 2.5-mile walk through Biscuit Basin to Mystic Falls. Meet at the Firehole River Bridge adjacent to the Biscuit Basin parking lot, 2 miles north of Old Faithful. Moderately strenuous. 1.5 hours.

Junior Ranger Wildlife Olympics (Jun 12 to Aug 14)
Kids can test their skills and compare their abilities to the animals of Yellowstone. How far can you jump? How well can you see and smell? Stay for as little or as long as your plans allow. Meet at the Wildlife Olympics tent between the Old Faithful Visitor Education Center and Old Faithful Geyser. 30 minutes. Accessible.

Young Scientist Investigation (June 14 to August 30)
Are the geysers alive? Is the volcano still active? Be a Citizen Scientist for the day and investigate these questions and more. Using the Young Scientist booklet as a guide, explore the Upper Geyser Basin with a park ranger. While it is not required, you can purchase a booklet at the Old Faithful Visitor Education Center. Meet at Castle Geyser, ½-mile west of Old Faithful (15-minute walk from the Visitor Education Center). 1.25 hours.
