Friday - 17 April

27 degrees warming to a nice 64 degrees. At 7:00 a.m. Scarface was south and west of Fisherman's Pullout in a high clearing south of the Lamar River. At 8:45 a.m. 926F and Twin wolves of the Lamar Canyon Pack were near the old Druid Rendezvous Area. Later we had them cross the road to the north into the den area north of Hitching Post. At 11:00 a.m. I spotted a small light grizzly in the K Meadow viewed from Footbridge Pullout.

Saturday - 18 April

24 degrees this morning warming up to a nice 59 degrees. At 6:20 a.m. I found a grizzly in Crystal Drainage viewed from Dave's Hill. At 6:50 a.m. Scarface was in the same clearing as yesterday morning in Lamar Valley. At 7:00 a.m. the wolf people found all twelve (nine black and three grey) of the Mollies Pack in K Meadow, I was still at Coyote Overlook and counted three black and one gray from there. At 10:00 a.m. 890M the beta male of the Junction Butte was near Boulder Pullout in Little America trying to cross from north to south. He finally made it and the other wolves were already across. At 4:00 pm. I spotted a grizzly in K-2 way south and west of the Footbridge Pullout. It was digging in the bare ground and then in the snow. When the grizzly disappeared I showed Mike and Kathy W where the grizzly had been. Soon Mike found a black wolf in the same area. At 5:40 p.m. we had a large black bear near the Yellowstone River Bridge (it had been under and around the bridge for two days). At 6:15 p.m. I found a beautiful light colored grizzly on the elk carcass viewed from Hellroaring (the carcass was nothing but hide and bones left now).

Sunday - 19 April

At 7:15 a.m. Scarface was in the same clearing in Lamar Valley. At 8:35 a.m. we had a grizzly low in A-Z Meadow viewed from Mid-Point. At 3:20 p.m. Calvin and Lynette found two grizzlies on the backside of Specimen Ridge viewed from Elk Creek. What a spot, must be four miles plus. I think they were a sow and a two year old cub, slept together and apart but still close.

Monday - 20 April

About 6:30 a.m. Ralph N. had two grey wolves to the south in Little America. They did not stay long as Ralph and I were the only ones to see them. At 7:00 a.m. Scarface was in the same clearing in Lamar Valley. At 7:30 a.m. I spotted a grizzly with a nice silver band around it high to the south of the Institute in a clearing called Bear Meadow At 8:00 a.m. I found a dark grizzly low in the bowl viewed from the Institute. I went east to check out a few meadows and Doug M (wolf watcher) called saying that grizzly went over the top of the ridge to the south. At 9:00 a.m. we had a tall cinnamon black bear in a clearing under the A-Z Meadow viewed from Coyote Overlook.
