Unfortunately, this project won't provide a remote control method for preventing high winds from blowing lodgepole pines over along the power line right-of-way. I predict that the improved communications and SCADA applications at the substations will assist NWE in fault isolation and dispatching, but unless they construct the additional facilities to protect those exposed power lines (e.g. diverse routing/bidirectional feeds), we will see plenty of power failures, even once this project is completed.
