excellent suggestions. South or North Big Springs Loop Road will get you to Big Springs off of US 20. Big Springs is also the site of Jonny Sack Cabin which is open for touring. The only thing I would add to Ballpark's Excellent Adventures is to bring bug spray as the horse flies on top of Mt. Sawtelle are capable of carrying you away, and the stinging insects at RR form their own clouds. But don't let the insects detour you Last summer we saw swan, ibis, eagles, herons, elk, coyote, and a far away griz. Red Rock Road from Idaho is off of US 20 and mostly dirt.
