Came home through the park by way of Sylvan Pass because WYDOT said the Montana section of 212 wasn't open yet. The first treat was a herd of BH ewes and lambs at the Clearwater Campground bridge on Hwy 14-20...wasn't expecting them so low! In the park, there was a handsome grizzly crossing the meadow at Storm Point, a bear I'm sure other folks know well, but it was my first look at him. A few lumpy buffalo between Sedge Bay and Hayden Valley, but nary a little red dog did I see. Yellowstone River appears low and the valley rather dry, with not much to recharge it, but once on the north-western quadrant of the loop, the story was different: no Pleistocene lakes at Norris, but upper Obsidian Creek was filling its channel, and Willow Park was about as soggy as it was this time last year but not flowing as fast. Still snow on the slopes above Gibbon Meadow, but everything else is giving it up to the warm weather. Other than too many road-killed mulies on the drive through Paradise Valley, a nice trip back to Livingston. Cheers, Beej
