I would love to answer at length - and other people probably will - but I'm leaving for the Parks early tomorrow (!!!!) and have a lot to finish up today as you might guess. Once I get back, later in June, I can contribute some information that I think will be of help.
Until then, let me recommend an excellent guide book, meant to cover every stop along the road, Yellowstone Treasures, by Janet Chapple. You can get the book from her website, Amazon, or at most bookstores/gift shops in and around the park. It's really excellent!
