Rather than a "zoo" MGE is a grizzly sanctuary/ refuge; each bear has its owns story. From the MGE Website:

"All of our bears were born in unfortunate captive situations and could NEVER be released into the wild. The bears have been rescued from often inhumane captive situations all over the U.S.."

The bears appeared very healthy and happy, they were all very active and kept very busy doing their bear things, much to our enjoyment.
The first bear rotated out of her private "den"
area was Lucy.
