If anyone was in the park Saturday, did you see the HUGE rock that fell from above the Lamar River near the confluence? We missed it by minutes if not seconds. I had pulled over to let vehicles pass me, and was just puttin' along. We were west of the Hitching Post when we saw a jam ahead. Thought it was bison as they had been along the road.
As we got closer, it was a rock that took up the east bound lane, jammed up the west bound pavement along the ditch, made a dent in the pavement close to the center line. It came from up at the top of the hillside.
One truck that had passed me, got mud splashed on is truck as he went by, it was that close to hitting a vehicle. I think that couple might have a needed a clean pair of drawers!
I stopped a Buffalo Ranch and talked with a ranger who was going to call it in, then go put up signs. They will need a crane or something huge to get it off the road.
