The trail to Mystic Falls is easily my favorite short hike in Yellowstone, challenged only by maybe Trout Lake. Getting to Mystic Falls involves walking through a cool little geyser basin, through some recovering forest (this area was just a black pit with scores and scores of dead trees standing silently when I first hiked it in 1989), along a beautiful river/creek (the Little Firehole River), and finally a rocky climb to a viewpoint for a cool waterfall. What's not to love?
