I am familiar with some of them. Many of these are up pretty high and I believe that they have been given names over the years by the bear watchers. Over the past several years, I have spent some time with Bill and others that use the names. I have not spent enough time up Washburn and Antelope Valley, so most of them, I still need to learn. At this point in time many of the wolf watchers also know the names. Once you know the names, you spend a lot less time trying to find a bear that someone else has already spotted.
If you are at Footbridge or Hitching Post you can see the three fingers on Norris and K Meadow. Look to the east on Norris and you will see three thin green meadows that come down from the top. These are the fingers. K Meadow is at the end of Speciman Ridge as it makes its way up to the Mirror Plateau. It is a big grassy meadow with a K shape. Hope that helps.
If you are ever on the Northern range while Bill is there, take the time to meet him. He is a great guy. My son Hayden, calls him the bear man. Sometimes the bears just seem to magically appear for him.
