The daily tour of the lake on the Island Queen II ($16 or some such)goes by Stevenson Island so you can view what is left of the SS EC Waters, but you don't land. Charters to the island using the Otter or a Grady-White are available, but rather expensive. The Grady-Whites are plastic so they won't land and you have to jump into the lake and wade ashore. I do not know if Xanterra allows their rental fishing boats to land on the island. All visitation is prohibited until after the 15th of August because of nesting birds.

You are allowed to visit the island in private boats, canoes and kayaks, No camping.

Leslie Quinn's one day Institute class (Wonderland's Serene Spot) is excellent and covers the maritime history of the Lake, the Lake Hotel and Fishing Bridge. I think it is offered the end of August most years. This year it was $195 minus member's discount and included the boat ride and bus transportation to the various sites.
