Rob (Hiker),

There is no mention of the upstairs. I know that at one time, a while back, there was talk of migrating the Visitor Center down the hill, somewhere near the North Entrance. Some of the rationale was that the Division of Interpretation needed more office space in Albright, and that expanding the VC within the confines of that historic building was going to be impossible. Who knows what influence the creation of the HRC down in Gardiner or the YA HQ expansion in the building on Front St. had on those alleged plans?

I am VERY familiar with the wildlife display upstairs. I once was officed just off that open area. Shortly after that, when I had my tour business, I would frequently bring clients up there to familiarize them with various species that they were hoping to see in the park. That display offered quite the opportunity to point out certain characteristics up close, knowing one would never get that close to the live variety out in the park. (The Fishing Bridge VC has an equally valuable display of birds and water fowl, which I also utilized for familiarizing tour clients.)

Maybe someone else with "inside info" will see this conversation, and inform the discussion.
