It depends on the time that you have and also whether you've been to the park before. If you haven't, Xanterra's Circle of Fire is a whole day tour going around the Lower Loop. You'll learn quite a bit about the park from the driver/guide and you can orient yourselves. Otherwise, you can easily use the park service's map and make your stops as you go both loops. Ask for advice at any of the visitor centers. Each visitor center has a different video highlighting something about the park. And as Granite Head said, try to attend free hotel tours, ranger talks and night amphitheater programs. You'll learn a lot from them. If you just want to ride in the old yellow touring buses, you can select a shorter Xanterra tour. The Association's tours also are informative.
