It was a most wonderful owl, just stayed there within photographic range for half an hour! After it killed its catch it hung our for a while longer, then hauled it back into the trees where I suspect some hungry kiddies were happy to see the chuck-wagon arrive.

What we have here in the hood (Baxter Meadows) I believe are great horned owls, which I've heard several times but never managed to lay eyes on. We did see the two GHO fledglings at Mammoth this year, first time we've ever managed to see/photograph that pair's output.
