is the statement that they will reopen as a year-round facility. My suspicion that they are talking about a 12 month per calendar year operation is supported by verbiage in the announcement that talks about how the new operation will "offer longer term employment to staff".

If this is truly the case, I have to wonder what the plan is for the traditional shoulder seasons (November/early December and late March through early May). I guess it is possible that YAI and Xanterra are cooking up some lodging and learning offerings. One additional possibility is the conference trade. When they do the biennial scientific conferences, they draw a large crowd! Me thinks there is much more simmering behind the scenes, in terms of planning for 2018 and beyond. Oh what a beehive of activity YA must be what with the merger with the Foundation, the NPS Centennial, and the Yellowstone Gateway renovation, and who knows what other projects. Wow, how things have changed over time. I remember the days when the biggest single project under way at this time of year at YA was the hiring process to staff the stores during the summer season. Once the summer YAI schedule was published, things got fairly quiet in that little building near the Pagoda.
