That's why this May 1 I will be on the phone first thing to make 2017 reservations - and we live 90 miles from the park!!
Day trips and quick over-nighters are good but there's nothing like waking up in the park and getting out very early in the morning to see what there is to see, especially wildlife-wise! In the summer heat we do what the critters do - up and about early, when it gets sultry in the afternoon back we often nap, then go back out to the wilds again when it starts to cool down.
