For interested parties, the linked update is fairly current (2 hours old).

The Type II team has just been in-briefed, so they will be taking over incident command.

As you will read, if you check out InciWeb, the NPS is taking steps to safeguard visitor, resource, and firefighter safety along the road between Madison Junction and West Yellowstone. They have plans in place to provide pilot car escorted travel on that road if smoke seriously obscures vision.

The seven day forecast for West Yellowstone is a mixed blessing. Winds are not forecast to be very high, but there is minimal chance of precipitation. The highs are supposed to rise from the high 60s to the high 70s this weekend. If anything changes that significantly boosts the wind speed, the Maple Fire could become one of the more infamous Yellowstone fire events!

The map does not give me the impression the fire is within 3.5 miles of Madison Junction, but it is not a high resolution map.

Let's hope the 20% chance of isolated thunderstorms over the next day or two does not produce any additional ignitions.
