Granite Head,

Lake Lodge is by far my most beloved indoor hangout in Yellowstone. Over the years, the cafeteria has proved to have the most reliable dinner menu for my taste. I love the spacious lobby and the proximal employee rec. room. Then there is that killer porch with all the rocking chairs and the incredible view. I can't tell you how many memorable evenings I have spent on that porch over the years.

I patronize the cafeteria regardless of where I'm staying, whether in cabins, in a campground, in a different part of the park, or even commuting back home. Yes, I have had a wonderful cafeteria dinner with friends, spent time on the porch afterwards, watching the moon rise over the Absarokas and illuminate the lake; and hit the road for a 2-3 hour drive home to Bozeman or Livingston afterwards on more than one occasion. Well worth it!

The dining room at Roosevelt Lodge ranks second on my personal list. Overall, the food is better, and the porch more intimate. That porch has to be one of the best places on the planet to watch and listen to a thunderstorm.
