Have the NPS studies determined the dynamics of the overcrowding; people, vehicles, which roads, which areas, what sites, what entrances? YNP is roughly 2.2 million acres and had roughly 5 million visitors. Great Smoky MTN NP is roughly 520 acres and had 11.3 million visitors, but not the issues to the extent YNP does. Perhaps the issue is not the number, but what areas draw the larger numbers. Then it's an easier nut to crack. The Google Earth image was the West entrance, 8/15/15, and was by far the heaviest of all park entries at that time, north was second; NE, E and S had 0-3 vehicles. Just triple the West entrance entry fee :) It should be an interesting few years ahead.
