Most picnic areas in Yellowstone have some trees. If you think about the drive east from the Yellowstone picnic area, there are few areas near the road with trees, until you get to Pebble Creek, and then it is not far to the Soda Butte picnic area. Slough would be a good spot, but the trees are pretty much at the campground.

If, a picnic area was placed in the Lamar corridor, would there be an issue with wolf watchers, like myself, using the parking spaces much like those being used at Yellowstone picnic area by hikers?

Just some thoughts. By the way, I love the Nez Perce Ford picnic area. Early June this year, we (family group of 8) were the only folks there. Went out to the point, had lunch and watched the heron rookery.
