With your reservations at Madison, suggest you enter through West Yellowstone, park your trailer at Madison, thus allowing you to drive your tow vehicle wherever you want. Also avoids towing the trailer through the Norris-Mammoth construction mess and an additional disconnect of the trailer.
Its an easy 5 mile drive from Mammoth to Gardiner to see Roosevelt Arch with no trailer.
