It's all about the timing. For day trips I usually get to the park - north or west - before 8 AM - when guests come along sometimes it's a little later (not everybody wants to be shoehorned out of bed an 0-dark-thirty, ya' know?) and have never had more than a couple of car wait. But we recently came in from south entrance, after a couple of days in the Tetons, and got there around 10:30. That kiosk has two windows. It took us exactly 30 minutes to get to the window. I flashed my pass and ID, and said to the ranger, "I was thinking you might be interested in hearing my life story." Her eyes got huge for the second it took her to get the joke. I did make her laugh. And we promptly went on our way.

Thanks for sharing your experiences.
