Hi Rick - I've stayed at all three places, Dornan's only twice, the other two many times and invariably enjoyed them equally. They're all beautiful, both are rustic, both are in GTNP, what else can I say?

Advantages of Signal Mtn - close to Oxbow Bend where one often sees wonderful wildlife, and a somewhat shorter drive to town. The cabins have larger baths and tubs, carpeted floors are warm but impossible to tell if they're clean. Nice rustic furniture. Tiny laundromat but machines work.
Minuses - cabins are on wonky foundations so doors don't always close properly, etc.

Advantages of Colter Bay - close to where grizzly 399 hangs out, although by next year the kids will be yearlings and they and mom are likely to be ranging more widely compared to this year when they were COYs. Nice local hiking, the bay is beautifully scenic, at least in years when there's a lot of water in Jackson Lake. Corrals/horseback riding. Close to Leek's Marina pizzeria. Nice visitor center (maybe the American Indian arts will be on display again by next year, most were still out for conservation this year), good general store and attended big laundromat in which half the machines are not working at any one time. You can use it whether or not you're staying there.
Minuses - Bathrooms are small and have showers only. Floors are linoleum and cold, but at least are easier to clean than the old carpets at Signal. Furniture has no particular charm. Farther from town.

Food is good at both places, Signal has two sit-downs, Colter has one sit-down and one cafeteria style eatery.

Dornan's is in a class by itself, cabins are light-years nicer and newer than either Signal or Colter, and have kitchenettes which is very handy for making your own breakfasts and sack lunches. As I recall however they didn't have microwaves, they might put one in your cabin if you ask for it, but I'm not sure. Beautiful full-service bathrooms. I loved staying there but rarely do because of the price.

Dornan's is by far the closest to town, has a good pizzeria/Italian restaurant, a bar-b-que place, and a small deli with good stuff including custom sandwiches to go. You're at Moose-Wilson Road where there's lots to do,such as lots of moose, Moose Visitor Center, Laurance Rockefeller Preseve VC, float trips, close to Teton Village to do the tram, etc., but far from Oxbow Bend and the corridor between Signal and Colter where 399 hangs out.

Let me know if you have any particular questions, I'll do my best to help!
