We've stayed at both Signal Mountain and Colter Bay. I think Signal Mountain is likely to cost you more. I think everyone charges for extra people, so your choice is to pay more or not tell. The Colter Bay cabins we have stayed in have generally been quite spacious, except for the last time we stayed there when I think they had divided a larger cabin into two. That was the only time I was really unhappy with Colter Bay. I think we have always heard more from neighbors at Colter Bay than at Signal Mountain - typically a couple of cabins are connected to one another and the walls must be paper thin. I can remember hearing voices, snoring, and - last year - I could actually hear people urinating (not the flushing, the urinating and not while I was in the bathroom, but while I was in the bedroom). I love Signal Mountain for the location, and the rustic cabins for being rustic, but seems to me they are a little more expensive. We have had good experiences eating at both places. Colter Bay has a better grocery store, Signal Mountain has a better gift shop.
