We were now being told by the Law Enforcement Ranger that if the roads opened at all it would be after lunch and then probably only between Mammoth and West Yellowstone, possibly to Old Faithful.

We ate lunch on the steps of the General Store in Mammoth, where a brazen magpie managed to help itself to one of Roadies cookies, then decided we would drive to the Tower intersection and walk the road and check out the new construction.

Along the way we stopped at Undine Falls.
