It would have done me a world of good to have spent a summer inYellowstone working my bu++ off in my late teens or early 20s. But I first came to the park in the early 1980s and have been coming back to visit as often as I can ever since. Now I'm approaching retirement and plan to move to the area for good. My best advice is, besides seeing and appreciating all the great sights like Old Faithful, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and Mammoth Hot Springs, and watching wildlife wherever it finds you (yep, that's pretty much how it happens) is to get on the trails and away from the crowds to experience Yellowstone at its best. It will amaze and lift your spirits. But keep in mind it's also a place that can be very unforgiving of carelessness. Carry and know how to use bear spray, hike with at least one other person, take water, don't walk on thin crust around the thermals, and come down off the mountain in thunderstorms. You'll have the time of your life!
