The grand reopening was today with Super Dan, Jim McCaleb and free food. Word is that three Sports Illustrated swimsuit supermodels will be staying there shortly for a photo shoot at Old Faithful. No idea why they are staying at Lake, but they have rented 20 rooms and are going to use the fire escapes so as not to have to associate with the common rabble who only pay $350 a night for a bed. We were told that the window in your photo is an "olive window" and the color of the hotel is Sherwin Williams Lake Hotel Yellow. Since the hotel was only painted last year and is already pealing, I doubt they will be advertising the paint. Winters at Lake can be nasty. Supposedly this winter they will remodel the hotel's annex (Sandpiper Wing). The dinner buffet at the hotel dining room was good, but not as good as Memorial weekend. I think I was hungrier last time. $38 including tip for one person is a bit on the expensive side. Service was a little slow, but it is hard to train seasonal staff quickly. They now give tours of the Lake Hotel as they do at the Old Faithful Inn. You show up at the concierge desk at 5:30 PM and the tour lasts about 45 minutes. Free and no reservation required.
