We were just in the park two weeks ago with out 9 and 11 year olds.
Jr Ranger program is a great suggestion. Kids worked on it all week. Bring some colored pencils/crayons.

Camera is also a good idea. We got cheap ~$50 digital cameras for each kid.
I instituted a bounty system for wildlife. First kid to spot a new animal got a dollar. Photos of each animal also earned a dollar.
During the first few days it was all about making money, but they soon stopped talking about money and were just taking photos and looking for critters. Last night we went thru their photos and they managed some real nice shots.

My son really liked the campfire programs and we did several of those.

We should have signed up for a couple of the kids activities with the Jr Rangers but were always busy.

They really want a spotting scope next time we visit, you might look into a rental.

Norris Geyser Basin was their favorite walk.
