The Yellowstone Institute, the educational arm of the Yellowstone Association, has primitive cabins at the Buffalo Ranch (where long ago tourists could view corralled bison up close) for Institute attendees. Those would have views of Lamar. But you have to be participating program to stay there. That's certainly something you might want to do, if not this time, then next visit.
