There are two sites that I like for Yellowstone weather.

The first one, from Weatherspark, shows average temperatures at the Lake weather station. As you can see from the red and blue lines, the average daily highs and lows drop dramatically throughout September and October.

Shorter days and high elevations also mean that the difference between the daytime high and night time low can easily be 30 to 45 degrees (F).

What these charts do not show is the day to day variability of the weather and temperatures. It is difficult to predict mountain weather more than a few days in advance. In September, 2014, I had spectacular and warm weather from the 1st to the 10th. On the morning of the 11th it was below freezing and snow was falling at Old Faithful. The bitter cold wind at West Yellowstone made me glad I had a winter coat, warm gloves and a wool watch cap with me.

In September, 2015, we had perfect weather up through the 12th, when we left. Layers of clothing that can be added or removed on the fly are the key to personal comfort in Yellowstone. This includes a water/wind proof top layer to keep you dry if a quick storm passes through.

The second site, from the National Weather Service, shows a map of Yellowstone and Grand Teton Parks with red dots. When you click on each dot it takes you to a page with current and predicted weather for that area of the park.

As noted by others, some days you can see quite a difference between various locations in the park. It is big, with major variations in the elevation and terrain that have a significant influence on weather and temperatures.
