I'm sure a few people will risk getting cited for "leaving the boardwalk" or whatever the legal term would be for going up higher than the viewing platform. I have not been up there, so I have no idea how thick the undergrowth or new growth in the wake of 1988's North Fork Fire might be. Eventually, I would expect the rise of new trees to obscure the view.
