Everything in the entire multi-state region is smoky, but I understand about a week from now (just in time for you!) a more autumnal weather regime is expected to move in, with cooler temperatures, chance of precipitation!!, and wind. The wind could fan fires, but it also could really move out some of this crud sitting under the world's biggest temperature inversion, a very, VERY welcome possibility.
I was in the park last weekend (Northern Range for the most part) and mornings were clearest, some blue skies even, but as the days heated up the pollution got worse. Nights would clear up again.
I think there's every chance that by the time you get there it will be much better!
