Family Man,

I hope life is treating you well.

Here's some answers to your questions, keyed to the numbers you used:

1.) The Inspiration Point spur road on the North Rim continues to be closed due to reconstruction at Inspiration Point. On the South Rim, the Artist Point area is open. The Upper Falls Overlook and Uncle Tom's trail parking lot is closed, as is portions of the South Rim trail in that area. The Upper Falls can be viewed from the Brink of the Upper Falls Overlook, which is accessed from the Grand Loop Road.

2.) Parking for RV's is somewhat scarce in Mammoth. The one area that is available is the inside strips along the boulevard medians by the post office and justice center. It gets filled fairly fast in the morning. Beyond that, it might take some real creativity. If you are going to be pulling a conventional passenger vehicle behind a motor home, you might check out the possibility of using the fairly spacious parking area across from the campground, north of the housing area. There is a fair amount of space here and there near the Y.A.C.C. Camp, if you know how to reach that. I just don't know whether the NPS would object to visitors using that area.

3.) I was just on the Terraces on Memorial Day evening. Canary Spring is dormant, but Main Spring, just next door, is really putting on a show. The vents down low, near Liberty Cap, continue to extrude plenty of thermal water. In between that area and the Upper Terrace, there is a sprinkling of activity at Cleopatra, Minerva, and another feature that I don't know the name of. Orange Mound Spring continues to flow water. Narrow Gauge Terrace appears to be real active. Grassy Spring is flowing pretty hard, and there is a steamy sinkhole off to the north of it, near the boardwalk. If your mother-in-law can make the walk down the boardwalk from the Upper Terrace Loop to Main Spring, she will be plenty impressed. It is flowing mightily!
