After the 1988 and subsequent fires destroyed so much moose habitat and moose became a rare sighting in Yellowstone, people who wanted to see moose were directed to the Tetons, where they were still a common, and popular sighting. They attracted so many paparazzi that they became harder and harder to find, and many assumed their species was diminishing. In fact they're still there in abundance, but are frequenting different areas. Their favorite now is the Gros Ventre campground area, on the eastern edge of the park. This moose mother and calf were resting in the willowy brush along the river bank. They were spotted, so a small group gathered on the rise above them. Mom wasn't much interested but the calf kept an eye on us. As soon as I got my shot I moved on.
I should add, all of these wildlife photos were taken with a 150-600 mm lens, in no case am I as close as it might appear in the photos.
