I'm probably a bit older than some of you, and not quite as ambitious, but I loved walking the River Group. And I had done it quite a few times, and just like TravelingBear, I never saw anyone but folks fishing. In 2016, took my 14 year old son along, teaching safety along the way, and he had a great time. He still remembers it well. In 2017, I went in the early morning the day after the accident. When I walked back to the parking lot, there were four official vehicles, heading in. In 2018, I knew it had been closed, but wasn't sure if it still was. There was a ranger parked in the lot and I asked about walking in along the river, and he rudely and loudly let me know that I had been breaking the rules every time I had been there and I better not go near it. Not a pleasant encounter. I still miss it, a lot, the River Group, not the dressing down by the ranger.
