There may have been goats up on the mountain, but I don't bother looking, especially in winter when they disappear into the snow. From where I was standing, the antlered animal most often seen is moose. They're actually getting pretty common in that area, and though I didn't see one there on that trip, there was one hanging round Soda Butte Cone, of all places. I've seen him there a couple of times this winter.

But there were sheep at the confluence of Soda Butte Creek and the Lamar River!
