So, does anyone have a clue what's going on with roads this spring? I'm trying to figure out when to have my reservations made for the interior opening and it's just insane trying to keep track of who is doing what.

So far, here's what I have...maybe we can compare notes or something.

East entrance -- Cody businesses and the Chamber have raised roughly $60K of a needed $100K estimate to plow the east entrance open on its original schedule (first week of May). This would cover plowing "possibly all the way to Fishing Bridge."

There was also talk of possibly plowing Colter Pass early to allow Cody-to-Cooke City traffic to flow via the Chief Joseph and Beartooth, but this is being met with resistance from the snowmobile enthusiasts according to the scuttle that I'm hearing.

South entrance -- Just saw a story in the Jackson paper that said the town and county both said no to assisting with raising some $200K to get the south entrance opened on time. I hear rumors that the Jackson Chamber of Commerce might be trying to go it alone to come up with the money, but I don't know.

West entrance -- I have no clue what's going on from that side of things. Anyone care to help?

Beartooth -- I've heard rumblings that Red Lodge is trying to 'do something' to get the Beartooth plowed on its regular timetable. This makes sense considering how much the economy of that town depends on tourist flow over the 'tooth, but I haven't heard many details or how the effort is being received.

Which brings us to the real kicker. What's going on with the park's INTERIOR roads? Because my understanding is that there's no plan to speed up that plowing regardless of what happens on the exterior of the park. If that's the case, then I'm foreseeing things like being able to drive in via East, because it's been plowed by Wyoming, and then getting to Fishing Bridge and discovering you can't go north or south because the NPS crews are still dealing with sequestration and haven't plowed either direction yet. Or have I missed a key piece of data here?

It will be an interesting spring...
