This marmot was lording it over his boulder at the east end of Lamar Canyon (and attracting quite an audience since the great horned owls nesting on the cliff far across the Lamar River from this vantage had fledged, leaving nothing but "whitewash" on the cliff face) but we saw many more along the Yellowstone Picnic walk. As noted in an earlier post about the Tetons, marmots are enjoying great reproductive success in the region this year, as will whatever feeds on marmots next year.
