Rick McIntyre retired, and is living in Silver Gate. He's still often at the roadside and very happy to share what he knows, but not in uniform now. Meanwhile, he's churning out books. First in what was supposed to be a trilogy and is now going to include at least four volumes, The Rise of Wolf 8: Witnessing the Triumph of Yellowstone's Underdog (The Alpha Wolves of Yellowstone 1). Available on Amazon, etc.

Yes, the soap opera that is Yellowstone's wolves is ongoing even without Rick. Best up-to-the-minute info is Laurie Lyman's (with contributions from many others) Yellowstone Reports (link below). My impression is that Slough Creek, at least when pups are young, is still The Place. But Laurie's blog might say different, so check it out.

My last day-trip was May 23rd. The badger watching has been good this summer.

I stay away during high tourist season - July visitation was already 110% over last year - so I don't know what's new, but you should also check out the park's road conditions page, there's a lot of construction, for instance, Dunraven is closed until 2022 for a badly needed total re-build.

Have a great trip!
