Whether seen from the board walks of Old Faithful or along the banks of the Snake River, these miniatures of the Iris Family will always draw favorable comments. The flattened stems are about 6 to 12 inches tall and are topped with 1 to 5 flowers. Where the 3 sepals and 3 petals join there is usually a yellows center. Note also that each perianth member is tipped with a minute point. These plants grow in moist soil and bloom in July or August. {Plants of Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks by Richard J.
