June 13th - Friday

44 degrees in Silver Gate this morning warming up to 82 degrees out in the park. I had a THREE DOG DAY today. At 5:15 a.m. I found a black bear on Specimen Ridge hunting elk calves. At 5:25 a.m. I found the grizzly sow with one yearling (Ski Slope family) on the first meadow behind Ski Slope. At 5:40 a.m. I found a grizzly northeast of the Institute digging. At 5:45 a.m. Gary G found the grizzly with two yearlings (Specimen Ridge family) in the Bowl. At 5:55 a.m. Randi M found a colorful grizzly hunting elk calves low in the Bowl. At 8:10 a.m. I found a gray uncollared and a black collared Mollies wolf above the new growth forest above Hitching Post. At 9:45 a.m. 1545M a Junction Butte pack member was seen south of Dorothy's Pullout. At 10:25 a.m. we had a black bear cross Square Meadow east to west. At 4:00 p.m. we had a grizzly just across the creek near Soda Butte Picnic area. At 8:05 p.m. we had a large grizzly was in view north at Lower Baronette.

June 14th - Saturday

Saturday June 14th. 44 degrees in Silver Gate this morning warming up to 82 degrees this afternoon out in the park. I watched a dusty grouse parading on the skyline south of Footbridge Pullout this morning. I watched a golden eagle soar north of the Institute this afternoon. I had a THREE DOG DAY today. At 5:15 a.m. Gary G found a large grizzly south of Hubard Hill on a bison carcass. At 5:20 a.m. four black and one gray Junction Butte wolves were at the carcass until the grizzly pushed them off. Later after the grizzly left the wolves returned to the carcass this time with six blacks and one gray wolf. At 6:15 a.m. Paul H found the grizzly sow with two yearlings (Specimen Ridge family) on the first meadow south and behind Ski Slope. At 6:20 a.m. we had a courting pair of grizzlies in A-Z Meadow. At 6:25 a.m. we had a black bear sow with one yearling cinnamon yearling cub in the A-Z Meadow. At 7:50 a.m. Kate J, Silver Gate Guides, found the grizzly sow with three two-year-old cubs (Druid Peak family) north of Picnic Pullout (I got there late and only saw two of the four as they went over the ridgeline). At 8:30 a.m. I found two adult grizzlies on the first skyline clearing east of Penny Lane. Not sure what we had, Randi M thought a sow with a very large cub, it was definitely not a courting pair. At 9:00 a.m. Kate J, Silver Gate Guides, found a bedded gray Mollies Wolf above the new growth forest south of Hitching Post (the Mollies den is above this new growth forest, but out of sight over a ridge). At 11:15 a.m. we had a black bear sow with one black cub of the year south of Picnic Pullout. At 2:00 p.m. I found the grizzly sow with one yearling (Ski Slope family) on the first meadow south and behind Ski Slope. They later bedded in the snowbank. At 4:30 p.m. Gary G found a courting pair of grizzlies on Penny Lane viewed from the Confluence. At 7:20 p.m. I had a black bear just off the road at Soda Butte Picnic area.

June 15th - Sunday

Sunday June 15th. 44 degrees in Silver Gate this morning warming up to 82 degrees out in the park. I had two dusty grouses parading on the ridgeline south of Footbridge Pullout. At 5:15 a.m. we found five black and one gray wolf on the bison carcass from yesterday southwest of Picnic Pullout. At 5:15 a.m. a large dark grizzly approached the bison carcass and took it from the wolves. The grizzly was not there long before leaving, going into the tree line to the south. The wolves briefly got the carcass back. At 5:30 a.m. a second grizzly worked its way from the west to take the carcass from the wolves. At 5:45 a.m. Randi M found the grizzly sow with two yearling cubs (Specimen Ridge family) on the second meadow behind and south of Ski Slope. Interestingly, they bedded for a long nap in the exact place the grizzly sow with one yearling did yesterday. At 5:50 a.m. I found the grizzly sow with two yearlings (Middle Ridge family) on the A-Z Meadow. At 8:00 a.m. found a black bear in the No Bear Meadow. At 9:00 a.m. Gary G found a cinnamon black bear on the # 3 finger on Norris. At 5:55 p.m. I found a small colorful grizzly digging in the Bowl. At 6:05 p.m. I found a medium sized colorful grizzly digging high in the Bowl. At 6:15 p.m. Gary G found a black bear on the second sliver of Ski Slope. At 6:25 p.m. Gary G found the grizzly with one yearling cub (Ski Slope family) on the connection between Ski Slope and the first meadow behind Ski Slope. At 7:30 p.m. Gary G found a courting pair of grizzlies on the second skyline clearing east of Penny Lane. At 7:40 p.m. Gary G found a large grizzly digging on the high clearing northeast of Pebble Creek.
