June 29th - Sunday

Last night we had a big thunder and lightning storm in Silver Gate and less so in the Lamar Valley. The valley was clear of fog until first light when the fog set in throughout the valley. It was 10:00 a.m. before the high meadows cleared of the fog. Almost all the grizzlies we have been seeing are on the top of the high clearings and meadows. 43 degrees this morning in Silver Gate warming up to 82 degrees when I went through Gardiner this afternoon. The sage thrashers were calling in the fog, but I did not see them. At 5:00 a.m. as the fog was setting in, I found a dark grizzly on Amethyst Bench. That was it for grizzlies for me in the park today. Gary G found the two sub adults again on the # 1 finger on Norris, and a brief sighting of the grizzly with two yearlings on Druid Peak, but I did not see either sighting. I decided to go north to Gardiner for the evening and camped there this night. I did find a large grizzly and on the other side of the road three sub adult grizzlies digging just before dusk.

June 30th - Monday

Monday June 30th. 40 degrees north of Gardiner this morning and warming up to 92 degrees in Idaho Falls, Idaho when I got home. Just after 5:00 a.m. I found my last grizzlies for the summer. A grizzly with three cubs of the year digging.

I hope to be back in the park in September.
