Tuesday - June 9th


32 degrees this morning with frost on the car warming up to 57 degrees. I had a fox, pelican, and peregrine falcons to watch today. At 5:20 a.m. I spotted a courting pair of grizzlies viewed on Middle Ridge looking from Coyote Overlook. At 5:40 a.m. Rita R found a courting pair south of Trashcan Pullout, and by 3:00 p.m. they had moved all the way to K-2 Meadow. At 6:10 a.m. Rita R found a black bear north of Midpoint viewed from Trashcan Pullout. At 8:50 a.m. Richard R found the four year old brown grizzly sub adult on Junction Butte. At 8:25 a.m. a black wolf was spotted near the Slough Creek Den area. At 9:00 a.m. I spotted the grizzly sow with two yearlings east of Ski Slope (this family moved from west of Ski Slope to K-2 Meadow seeming to move back and forth every two to three days). At 10:00 a.m. we had a black bear on the south end of Junction Butte. At 1:45 p.m. we watched a black bear at Lower Hellroaring. At 2:50 p.m. I found a sub adult four year old sub adult below Druid Peak. At 6:10 p.m. I spotted a black bear sleeping northeast of Boulder Pullout. At 6:35 a.m. a cinnamon black bear was seen near the sleeping black bear. At 6:30 p.m. the small blond grizzly was seen on Junction Butte. At 7:15 p.m. four black and 907F a gray wolf were seen running east from the Slough Creek den area. At 8:30 p.m. I spotted the grizzly sow with two coys near the Moosehead viewed from Trashcan Pullout.


Wednesday - June 10th


37 degrees this morning warming up to 68 degrees. I had a cow moose and a bull moose today. At 5:25 a.m. 1048M a black wolf was spotted south of Dorothy's Pullout. At 5:45 a.m. 1047M the black alpha male and a uncollared black yearling wolf were seen south of the Institute. At 6:30 a.m. the grizzly sow with two coys were north of Picnic Area. At 7:30 a.m. Richard R found a colorful sub adult grizzly north of Picnic Pullout. At 7:50 a.m. a cinnamon black bear was spotted on the # 2 finger on Norris. At 8:40 a.m. the Slough Creek grizzly sow with two two year olds was north of Coyote Overlook. At 9:25 a.m. the grizzly sow with two yearlings was on Ski Slope. At 2:15 p.m. three black and one gray wolf were seen near the Slough Creek Den. At 2:40 p.m. the small blond grizzly was on Junction Butte, and was still there at 5:20 p.m. At 5:10 p.m. we had a large black bear near the Petrified Tree Road and crossed the road thru the traffic. At 7:50 p.m. five black puppies were seen around the Slough Creek Den. At 8:30 p.m. my last sighting for the day was a black bear south of Picnic Pullout.


Thursday - June11th

37 degrees this morning warming up to 76 degrees. I watched mountain goat kids above Round Prairie today. I had a THREE DOG DAY today. At 5:20 a.m. I spotted a small dark grizzly north of Coyote Overlook. At 6:00 a.m. Rick H found a courting pair of grizzlies in the Bowl viewed from the Institute. At 6:05 a.m. we had a black bear sow with one coy in the tree line south of the Institute. At 7:00 a.m. Richard found the Slough Creek grizzly sow with two two year olds northeast of Coyote Overlook. At 7:20 a.m. the grizzly sow with two yearlings was on Ski Slope. At 9:00 a.m. the grizzly sow with two coys was near the Moose Head viewed from Picnic Pullout. At 10:15 a.m. Wendy B found the four year old sub adult on a elk calf kill on Dead Puppy Hill. At 11:25 a.m. a cinnamon black bear was on the # 2 finger on Norris. At 6:15 p.m. we had a medium dark grizzly on K Meadow. At 6:35 p.m. we watched a courting pair of grizzlies entered the top of K Meadow. At 7:20 p.m. two grizzles, probably a courting pair, were seen high above Coyote Overlook viewed from Long Pullout in Little America. At 7:35 p.m. six black and two gray puppies were in view near the Slough Creek Den. At 8:15 p.m. a collared black wolf was seen on the old bison carcass south of Fisherman's Pullout.


Friday - June 12th


37 degrees this morning warming up to a hot 82 degrees. I had a badger in the Soda Butte Valley, vultures flying over Lamar Valley, and two small cow moose south of Footbridge Pullout today. Also a badger den showed up across from the Petrified Tree road today, I saw one adult and one young. At 4:55 a.m. the four year old sub adult grizzly was still on the elk calf carcass on Dead Puppy Hill. At 5:45 a.m. a I found a black bear and a cinnamon black bear in the tree line behind the big meadow south of the east end of Jasper Bench. At 5:50 a.m. I spotted a cinnamon black bear in the Salad Bowl viewed from Coyote Overlook. At 8:00 a.m. the grizzly sow with two coys was seen crossing the road from north to south just west of Hitching Post. At 8:30 a.m. we watched a large grizzly north of Coyote Overlook hunting elk calves. At 9:00 a.m. we spotted a black wolf near the Chalcedony Fan. At 9:40 a.m. we had a black bear at Tower Junction. At 11:15 a.m. we also had a black bear on Tower Hill. At 11:20 a.m. there were two black bears south of Elk Creek Pullout. At 6:10 p.m. the grizzly sow with two yearlings were spotted under the snow cornices. At 7:45 p.m. eight black and two gray adult wolves were traveling west from the Slough Creek den area. At 8:15 p.m. we had one black pup near the Slough Creek Den.


Saturday - June 13th

46 degrees this morning warming up to 79 degrees. I did have a THREE DOG DAY today. At 5:20 a.m. Randi M found a grizzly high north of Coyote Pullout. At 5:25 a.m. we had seven black wolves hunting bison calves in the large meadow behind the east end of Jasper Bench. At 7:00 a.m. Emil M found a courting pair of grizzlies in A-Z Meadow. At 7:50 a.m. Ed S found the grizzly sow with two coys on Penny Lane viewed from the Confluence. By 8:00 a.m. the number of wolves visible southwest of Footbridge was eight blacks and one gray. At 8:25 a.m. the small colorful four year old grizzly was high on Penny Lane. At 8:30 a.m. Rick H found a third grizzly in A-Z Meadow as the courting pair was still in the same meadow. At 9:15 a.m. Laurie L called having the Slough Creek grizzly sow with two two year olds north of Fisherman's, a brief view for me as they were moving up and west into Secret Passage. At 10:45 a.m. Randi M found the black bear sow with one coy southwest of Midpoint Pullout in the tree line. At 1:35 p.m. we had a courting pair of black bears in Crystal Drainage (a black boar and a cinnamon sow). At 2:45 p.m. Richard R found a small colorful grizzly in K Meadow. At 5:15 p.m. we had a black bear at Floating Island Lake. At 8:00 p.m. I found a small colorful grizzly on Amethyst Bench. At 8:40 p.m. Rick and Tanner H found a medium sized grizzly just east of Amethyst Bench. At 8:55 p.m. Tanner H found a dark grizzly below Druid Peak. At 9:25 p.m. we had a large black bear in the clearing across from the Soda Butte Picnic Area.


Sunday - June 14th


40 degrees this morning warming up to 79 degrees. I saw a moose near Warm Creek tonight going back to camp. At 5:40 a.m. Richard R found the Slough Creek sow with two two year olds north of Coyote, and tonight I relocated them high above Coyote Overlook viewed from Long Pullout in Little America. At 5:40 a.m. Richard R found a large grizzly digging north of Coyote Overlook. At 6:20 a.m. a black bear was seen in the tree line south of the Institute. At 6:30 a.m. three black and the gray 907F wolves were seen south of Picnic Pullout. At 6:45 a.m. I spotted the grizzly sow with two coys on Penny Lane first viewed from the Confluence. By 6:30 p.m. that family was moving south of Norris. At 7:30 a.m. we watched a bear zig zagging on Norris hunting elk calves in deep sagebrush (we guessed it to be a black bear). At 9:15 a.m. we had a courting pair of grizzlies high above the Slough Creek Den. At 9:45 a.m. two black adult wolves and three black and one gray puppy were seen around the Slough Creek den. At 11:30 a.m. the grizzly sow with two yearlings were under the snow cornices viewed from Footbridge Pullout. At 2:45 p.m. an uncollared black wolf was seen bedded south of Fisherman's Pullout. At 5:00 p.m. we had a large grizzly north of Coyote Overlook viewed from Little America. At 5:25 p.m. I spotted a cinnamon black bear northwest of Lamar Canyon East.


Monday - June 15th

32 degrees this morning warming up to 69 degrees. At 5:35 a.m. Randi M found a courting pair of grizzlies on Specimen Ridge viewed from Coyote Overlook. At 5:50 a.m. Richard R found two equal sized grizzlies north of Trashcan. At 6:25 a.m. Richard R found the grizzly sow with two coys on Norris. At 7:30 a.m. I had a brief sighting of the Slough Creek grizzly sow with two two year olds northwest of Coyote. At 8:30 a.m. I had another brief sighting of a courting pair of grizzlies high above the Slough Creek den area moving west. At 10:00 a.m. we had a cinnamon black bear on the # 3 finger on Norris. At 10:15 a.m. Richard R found the small colorful four year old grizzly on the # 1 finger on Norris. At 11:15 a.m. we had a black bear high on # 3 finger on Norris. At 11:30 a.m. we watched a black bear sow with one black, one cinnamon and one light yearling cub on K-2 Meadow. At 1:15 p.m. we had a black wolf near the Slough Creek den. At 3:00 p.m. we watched a grizzly with one yearling cub traveling east on K-3 Meadow. At 7:45 p.m. the grizzly with two yearlings was seen under the snow cornices viewed from Footbridge Pullout.


Tuesday - June 16th


46 degrees this morning warming up to 55 degrees. I had a THREE DOG DAY today. At 5:50 a.m. Richard R found a small colorful grizzly north of Hubbard Hill. At 6:15 a.m. we had a grizzly digging on Calfee (this is the bare ridge south of Norris) viewed from Trash Can Pullout. At 6:20 a.m. the grizzly sow with two coys on Penny Lane viewed from the Confluence. At 6:45 a.m. Richard R found the small colorful grizzly on the # 1 finger on Norris. At 7:15 a.m. we had a medium sized grizzly digging north of the Institute. At 7:25 a.m. Randi M found a small colorful grizzly digging north of Picnic Pullout. At 8:05 a.m. I spotted a large grizzly in Bear Meadow viewed from Coyote Overlook. At 1:15 p.m. we had a black bear at Phantom Lake. At 2:00 p.m. seven black wolves and three gray puppies were seen near the Slough Creek Den. At 4:40 p.m. three black wolves were seen hunting bison calves south and east of Midpoint Pullout. At 8:20 p.m. I spotted a small grizzly in K-2 Meadow.
