52 degrees in Silver Gate but 43 degrees in Lamar Valley this morning warming up to 73 degrees. At 5:00 a.m. we had a grizzly digging on Amethyst Bench. At 5:20 a.m. the two 3 1/2-year-old Slough Creek sub adults were seen northeast of Coyote Overlook for some good viewing and were back again at 9:00 a.m. At 5:45 a.m. the Specimen Ridge grizzly sow with two cubs of the year (coys) was on the Divide Ridge. This family provided good viewing several times today. At 5:50 a.m. four black adult wolves and two black and one gray puppy were seen near the Slough Creek den. At 6:35 a.m. five black and five gray wolves on and around a new bison cow carcass southwest of Picnic Pullout. Viewing in the morning and throughout the day. At 6:40 a.m. I found a grizzly heading south for the trees from the new bison cow carcass. At 7:30 a.m. the grizzly sow with one coy were on the #3 finger on Norris. At 7:40 a.m. we had a medium colorful grizzly on the #2 finger on Norris. At 8:45 a.m. Gary G found a small colorful grizzly digging on the west end of the K Meadow viewed from Trashcan Pullout. At 10:15 a.m. I found a small colorful grizzly running over the hill in the Bowl. At 10:30 a.m. Evan S called saying the Middle Ridge grizzly sow with two coys were in the bowl, thus the reason for the small grizzly running. At 12:50 p.m. two small sub adult grizzlies on the #3 finger on Norris. At 7:10 p.m. I found a new grizzly family, this one moving west thru K-3 Meadow viewed from Footbridge Pullout. It was a grizzly sow with three coys. I got a great look as they crossed a small, short grass meadow. Then I called Gary G and we watched for twenty minutes as they moved thru deadfall trees. This is the seventh grizzly family with coys from Slough Creek east thru the Soda Butte Valley. It should be great for viewing yearlings next year.

Sunday - June 27th

48 degrees this morning in Silver Gate warming up to 82 degrees. I had a pine marten run across the road in front of me today. At 5:00 a.m. we had eight black and five gray wolves at 400 yards from Midpoint Pullout near yesterday's cow bison carcass. Great viewing after they got moving having a big rally before moving east picking up to two more wolves then going south towards Cache Creek and out of sight. At 5:10 a.m. Gary G found a grizzly digging on Amethyst Bench. At 5:20 a.m. I found a black bear viewed low in the Bowl from Midpoint Pullout. At 5:30 a.m. Gary G made a great spot finding the Middle Ridge grizzly sow with two coys in the Bowl viewed from Midpoint Pullout. At 5:55 a.m. I found the Specimen Ridge grizzly sow with two coys in A-Z Meadow. This family was in view several times during the day. At 6:35 a.m. I found the two sub adult grizzlies on the #3 finger on Norris from Footbridge Pullout but better viewing from Soda Butte Middle because of the rising sun. At 7:10 a.m. Gary G found a medium sized colorful grizzly on Penny Lane viewed from Hitching Post. At 10:30 a.m. we had a bear jam near the Yellowstone River Picnic Area as the cinnamon black bear sow with the two black coys were just off the road. At 11:30 a.m. the two 3 1/2-year-old Slough Creek sub adults were seen at the skyline north of Coyote Overlook. A brief five-to-ten-minute sighting before they disappeared over the skyline. At 6:30 p.m. two black adult wolves and one black and two gray puppies were seen at the Slough Creek den.

At 4:55 a.m. we found two separate grizzlies digging on Amethyst Bench next to a herd of about 60 bison. Later they decided to leave and ran around the bison on their way to Amethyst Drainage. Two separate grizzlies that moved out of sight separately. At 5:25 a.m. I found a small colorful grizzly high in No Bear Meadow. At 6:00 a.m. I found the Middle Ridge grizzly sow with two coys on Bear Meadow viewed from Coyote Overlook. Not the best viewing as they went in and out of the trees. At 7:00 a.m. 1228F, 1229F and an un-collared black wolf moving west south of Eastern Curve Pullout east of Footbridge. One wolf caught a pronghorn antelope fawn and they all disappeared into trees on Dead Puppy Hill. At 7:30 a.m. we had a large grizzly just under the Snow Cornice viewed from Footbridge Pullout.
