Wednesday - June 30th

45 degrees this morning warming up to a warm 85 degrees. I had a cow moose at Warm Creek this evening. At 4:50 a.m. Paul H noticed the dark grizzly again digging on Amethyst Bench. It soon moved west then south following the Amethyst Drainage up and out of sight. At 5:05 a.m. nine of the Junction Butte wolf pack were seen chewing on bones at the old cow bison carcass south of Midpoint. I only saw one gray and four blacks before moving on. At 10:40 a.m. the cinnamon black bear sow with two black cubs of the year (coys) was east of Yellowstone River Picnic. At 10:50 a.m. a black collared wolf was seen south of Aspen Pullout this side of the Lamar River. At 5:30 p.m. the two sub adults were digging on the #2 finger on Norris. At 5:45 a.m. I found a medium sized grizzly on K-3 viewed from Footbridge Pullout. It was in some deadfall so I was hoping it was one of the two grizzly sows with coys that had been seen earlier in the year but was only a single grizzly. At 6:20 p.m. the Middle Ridge grizzly sow with two coys were in A-Z Meadow.

I made this my last day in the park. I camped at Silver Gate and drove through the park mostly before daylight. My plans are to return in mid-September for fall watching.
