June 29th - Monday

Monday June 29th. 40 degrees this morning in Silver Gate warming up to 47 degrees with a light rain all day long with low clouds most of the day too. At 5:45 a.m. Keith from Silver Gate Guides found a black Junction Butte wolf on Amethyst Bench. It led to wolves being in sight for the next two hours. I saw three black wolves, but the wolf watchers had four. At 8:30 a.m. Gary G found the two Specimen Ridge sub adults high on Ski Slope in the low clouds. At 9:30 a.m. Grant J from Yellowstone\Safari showed me two large sub adults digging on the # 2 finger on Norris. At 10:50 a.m. I watched a grizzly sow with two yearling cubs east of Cooke City. They were in view several times this morning digging through the snow.

June 30th - Tuesday

43 degrees in Silver Gate this morning warming up to 60 degrees out in the park this afternoon. I watched a bull moose on the Divide Ridge this morning. At 5:45 a.m. Rick M called with a grizzly and three black Junction Butte wolves on yesterday's carcass south of Hubbard Hill. At 6:15 a.m. Gary G found a black bear north of Coyote Overlook. At 8:00 a.m. Doug M found a medium sized colorful grizzly digging northeast of Pebble Creek viewed from Footbridge Pullout. Good light made the view pretty good for being six miles plus in distance. At 8:15 a.m. Doug M told me about a small colorful grizzly on the K Meadow. At 9:30 a.m. I found the Middle Ridge grizzly sow with her two colorful two and one-half year-old sub adults on the ridgeline north of the Institute. They fed over the ridge towards us and ten minutes later fed back over the ridge and out of sight. At 9:40 a.m. Chris H showed me a large black bear northeast of the Institute. At 11:00 a.m. I stopped at the Nature Trail; and with Jeff A's help I watched five black Rescue Creek wolves. No puppies for me, but the pup count is now five blacks and two gray puppies. I had a two wolfpack day today. I had a THREE-DOG DAY today.
